Honda N-Box 2016 Review

The Honda N-Box is a kei car, part of a category of small vehicles popular in Japan for their compact size and efficiency. Introduced in 2011, the 2016 Honda N-Box belongs to the first generation of this model. It’s designed to offer maximum interior space within a very compact exterior footprint, making it suitable for urban environments with tight parking and narrow streets, like those found in Sri Lanka.

Exterior Design

The 2016 Honda N-Box featured a boxy, yet charming design typical of kei cars. It maximized interior space through its tall and upright stance. The ground clearance was relatively low, around 150-160mm, which is adequate for city driving but may not be ideal for rougher terrains.

Interior Design

The interior of the N-Box was surprisingly spacious, given its external dimensions, offering a highly versatile and functional space. The boot space was efficiently designed, with the ability to accommodate daily necessities and more when the rear seats were folded, making it a practical choice for small families.

Performance

Equipped with a small, efficient engine (typically around 660cc as per kei car regulations), the N-Box was designed more for city driving and fuel efficiency than for performance. Its power was adequate for urban commuting, with a focus on practicality over speed.

Ride Quality

The ride quality was suitable for a compact car, providing reasonable comfort and maneuverability in city driving conditions. The suspension was geared towards providing a smooth ride over urban road imperfections.

Safety & Technology
