Audi Q5 2012 Review

The Audi Q5 is a luxury compact crossover that first made its debut in 2008. By 2012, it was still in its first generation, known as the Typ 8R. This generation was lauded for combining the practicality of an SUV with the luxury and performance Audi is known for. As of my last update in April 2023, the Q5 has seen subsequent generations, each building on the success of the previous ones with improved technology, comfort, and performance.

Exterior Design

The 2012 Audi Q5 sports a sleek and modern design that stands out in its class. It has a distinctive Audi grille, stylish LED lights, and a well-proportioned body that strikes a balance between elegance and athleticism. The ground clearance is approximately 200mm, which is quite practical for various driving conditions, including the diverse terrains of Sri Lanka.

Interior Design

Inside, the Q5 offers a premium cabin experience with high-quality materials and excellent build quality. The interior is spacious, and the boot space is generous for a compact SUV, offering around 540 liters, which can be further expanded by folding the rear seats, making it quite versatile for both daily use and longer trips.

Performance

The 2012 Q5 typically came with a range of engine options, including efficient four-cylinder TFSI engines and more powerful V6 options. These engines offer a good blend of performance and efficiency, crucial in the Sri Lankan market where both aspects are highly valued.

Ride Quality

Ride quality in the Q5 is impressive, balancing comfort and sporty handling. Its Quattro all-wheel-drive system provides excellent grip and stability, which is particularly beneficial on Sri Lanka’s varied road conditions.

Safety & Technology

The 2012 model came equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including multiple airbags, stability control, and possibly Audi’s advanced MMI infotainment system, depending on the trim level.
