Zotye Nomad 2017 Review

When we think of a Chinese vehicle, we usually think of a duplicate. Today, we’ll discuss such a vehicle. However, this is a low-cost ride meant for SUVs. That’s right, the Zotye Nomad.

Zotye Holding Group established Zotye in 2005. Previously, Zotye had only contracts to export car parts. However, in order to keep up with the increasing Chinese vehicle market, Zotye boosted production. That is how Zotye automobile production began. So, the Zotye RX6400, the brand’s debut model, was a tiny SUV that was eventually renamed the Zotye Nomad. We can observe generations of this Zotye Nomad from 2005 to 2016. The Zotye Nomad car, which belongs to the first generation, manufactured in 2007, is the one that the CarsGuide is evaluating today.

Exterior Design

The Nomad has an off-road appearance from the outside.
Let’s start with that. Wipers and washers for the windshield are included. The front bumper gives the front a robust appearance. There are two types of front lights: headlights and fog lights. The chrome symbol is seen in the center of the grill. The chrome pieces on the front of the Nomad also give it a more upscale appearance.

Roof tails, which are often found on SUVs, have been added to the sides. The door handles are body color. The total length is 3900 mm. The designers intended to give the side an off-road appearance by including features like footsteps, body claddings, and wheel arches that can withstand a lot of weight. When it comes to the back, the spare wheel installed on the rear door is notably prominent. Taillight design is also excellent. A top-mounted brake light is also visible. So, all of these factors have contributed to the vehicle’s SUV appearance.

Because the Nomad is an SUV, the average ground clearance should be 225 mm. The manufacturers, however, have given it a ground clearance of 195 mm. They have, in fact, given the Nomad a ground clearance suited to Sri Lankan roads.

The back door has a good range of movement. As a result, loading and unloading things is a breeze. The boot has a capacity of 454 liters. The back seats can be folded forward to add space if necessary. The Nomad has another storage space where the spare wheel is generally found in other vehicles.

Interior Design

When discussing the driver compartment, leather seats are shown. The driver’s seat has been given an excellent driving position. You won’t find such generous legroom anywhere else. There is plenty of headroom.

Power windows are included in this model. For longevity, the dashboard is made of strong plastic. Sun visors have been installed on both the passenger and driver sides. A decent glove box is usually found on the passenger side. The meter console is constructed in a straightforward manner.

In the passenger compartment, there are three leather seats. It has plenty of headroom because the seats are low to the ground. However, the seating position is uncomfortable. But, there is usually plenty of legroom. There are two headrests on each seat. Despite the lack of a floor hump, the center seat is rather narrow, making it difficult for an average person to get in. Two passengers can travel in comfort.

There are two pockets on the seat backs. In this instance, windows must be manually moved up and down. As a result, window rollers can be seen. There is a door board that is quite durable. However, because it is made of hard plastic, it is difficult to handle. The door handles are also composed of plastic. As a result of these, the Nomad can be classified as a low-cost car.
The outside is reminiscent of an SUV, while the interior is more akin to a city vehicle.

Performance

A 1600cc engine powers the Zotye Nomad. This engine generates 85 horsepower and 108 Newton-meters of torque.

The 1600cc engine is coupled to a manual 5-speed CVT transmission. When it comes to driving style, the Nomad is classified as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
The Nomad has a top speed of 140 km/h. It gets 16 kilometers per liter of fuel. You can go 736 kilometers with a fuel tank capacity of 46 liters.

Ride Quality

When it comes to the Zotye Nomad trip, it is simple to drive in a city. It can also be readily turned. There are a lot of jolts when driving on a rocky road. A decent driving stance allows the driver to have adequate visibility. The sounds from outside can be heard in the cabin. Despite its low price, the Nomad features a comfortable ride that matches its SUV-like look.

Safety & Technology

We will now discuss how the manufacturers considered the safety of the Zotye Nomad. In the event of a collision, two airbags are provided to protect both the driver and the front passenger.

The Nomad’s safety features include ABS, EBD, traction control, and electronic stability control. So, even though it is a low-cost car, its safety provides good value for the money we pay. Nomad has received a three-star safety rating as a result of these factors.
