Mini Cooper 2016 Review

Sri Lankans are familiar with the Mini Cooper, and as a result of its 64-year history, this car is recognized immediately! In 1959, the first Mini model car was produced. However, the Mini Hatch, a Mini Cooper produced by BMW, was introduced to the market after the year 2000. The Mini hatch series has seen three iterations so far. Exterior Design

We can identify this car as a four-door vehicle, and at first glance, we notice a sport look.
Compared to other vehicles, this car presents a curved windscreen and comes with windscreen washers too. Next, you can see that the Mini logo is attached to the center of the vehicle. When talking about the headlamps, you can look at quite large, circular ones. There is also a cutout around it. Also, we can see very powerful fog lamps.

Furthermore, a grill design, aggressive in appearance may be seen and directly below, shells have been provided to facilitate air intake.

A common misconception is that a Mini cooper is not suitable for day-to-day use, which is actually wrong. Because the Mini’s ground clearance is 124 mm. Generally, a good ground clearance has been provided. The wheels of the Mini Cooper come with the multi spoke type.

When it comes to mirrors, you get a side mirror separated from the vehicle body. We can identify this as a mirror different from other vehicles.
If you come to the rear side of the vehicle, you can see a sporty look just like the front. Also, you can see headlights as well as fairly large tail lights.

The boot space of the 2016 Mini cooper is 211 liters. By folding the rear seats, the boot space can be increased to 731 liters.

Interior Design

When we get to the interior of the 2016 Mini Cooper, you can see a cabin made of higher quality materials than other subcompact cars. The door and the dashboard are covered with a soft-touch plastics coat. Also, the ambient lighting color on the doors changes with your driving mode.

With the interior design of the Mini Cooper, you can reach the controls very easily. However, there are several ergonomic issues such as the center armrest being uncomfortable when it is lowered and the visibility outside the windshield is reduced for tall drivers. Also, your visibility may be reduced due to the convertible’s thick pillars and small rear window. Therefore, if you are carrying only one passenger, it is best to remove the back-seat headrests.

We can see gauges that are easy to read on the Cooper. An 8.8-inch central display screen is included here. In the Mini Cooper, similar to BMW’s iDrive, the center console is operated by a knob.

Also, here are Bluetooth, automatic climate control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, six-speaker audio system, USB/iPod adapter, auxiliary audio input, HD Radio, climate-controlled glove box, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and color- You can see customizable ambient lighting. Also, satellite radio, Harman Kardon audio system, six-disc DVD player, rearview camera, rear parking sensors, automated parallel parking assist, head-up display, panoramic sunroof and navigation have been provided.
The front seats offer firm support and a good driving position. But the rear passenger space is not enough.

Performance

A six-speed manual transmission is available in the 2016 Mini Cooper. Additionally, for additional fuel saving, the engine shuts down when the car is parked via the automatic stop-start technology.

A turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine may be seen here and produces 134 horsepower and 162 torque.

In addition, the Mini Cooper accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds. When it comes to fuel economy, the city area averages roughly 28 km per liter while the highway averages 39 km per liter.

Ride Quality

When it comes to the ride quality of the 2016 Mini Cooper, it handles this well thanks to its small footprint, low center of gravity, and light weight. Even when driving about town, you can have a fun and exciting trip. Not only that, you can drive with confidence even on curved roads.

However, the rear-drives in this class are not as communicative and balanced as the Scion FR-S. But, the 2016 Mini Cooper can be described as a vehicle that provides an enjoyable driving experience. As a result, it is worth the price.

Even on highways, you can expect a comfortable ride that is reasonably quiet. However, when traveling over difficult terrain, a small amount of noise is detected.

Safety & Technology

The 2016 Mini Cooper comes with standard anti lock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, front knee airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. Optional safety features include rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
In the official crash test, this vehicle scored four out of five stars for overall safety.
