Toyota Wigo 2018 Review

When we think of a budget car, we usually think of a vehicle with fewer features and a tiny cabin space. But the vehicle we’re discussing today is a different type of low-cost automobile. Toyota Wigo, to be specific. Despite its low price, this is a pretty decent vehicle. Daihatsu manufactures the Toyota Wigo. So, CarsGuide is examining the Toyota Wigo, 2018.

Exterior Design

A glance, the exterior of the Toyota Wigo reveals an amazing design. When it comes to the front end, the large grill and bumper give it a sporty and aggressive appearance. There are projector headlights and fog lights visible, along with windshield wipers. We also get a glimpse of the Toyota logo. It has a more upscale appearance thanks to the chrome elements added to the front.

On the side, there are 14-inch alloy wheels. Body-colored door handles and winker mirrors are included. The chrome pieces on the front and sides give it a little more upscale appearance.

The back has been given a lovely taillight design. The spoiler and rear bumper design have further added to the sporty appearance. You may see a windshield wiper and reflectors. The chrome Toyota symbol can be seen in the center of the tailgate. The Wigo logo can also be seen on one side of the tailgate.

When it comes to ground clearance, the Toyota Wigo features a 180 mm clearance. Because this is a hatchback class vehicle, the typical ground clearance is 168 mm. However, the manufacturers’ ground clearance corresponds to Sri Lankan roadways.
When it comes to the boot, depending on the size of the car, you usually receive a large one. Folding the rear seats expands the boot volume. Folding the seats, however, does not result in a completely flat boot floor. Furthermore, the loading lip is fairly high. The spare wheel is visible beneath the boot floor. This spare wheel is essential when driving on rocky and challenging roads.

Interior Design

As soon as we get inside the Toyota Wigo, we notice that it has a low-cost appearance. However, the quality, fit and finish are excellent.

When it comes to the driver’s cabin, it’s virtually entirely built of plastic. The chrome accents and colorful inserts on the dashboard and doors give it a stylish appearance. Seats are made of fabric. These lack features such as adjustable headrests and driver seat height adjustments. The seats, on the other hand, are comfy and have a good holder. These seats also include some bucket seat design elements. In general, the driver cabin has ample leg and headroom.

On the passenger side, there is normally a spacious glove compartment. At the bottom of the center console, there is a 12-volt power outlet and a phone holder. Two cup holders, a tiny storage area, and a bottle holder are provided. A storage compartment is also provided on the driver’s side. Bottle holders and door bins are standard size. Wigo offers the standard options such as a remote key, power windows, and power mirrors. There is an entertainment system with options such as Pioneer CD, USB, Bluetooth, and Phone. In general, the audio quality is good.

The Wigo comes with a manual air conditioner. This system is enough for keeping the cabin cool. However, the Wigo lacks the heating option as well as the air flow selector. That means you can’t defog the windshield while also directing air flow to the legs. There is a standard-sized steering wheel that is simple to operate. Because it is a low-cost vehicle, no modifications have been made. The meter console’s speedometer and tachometer are available as big analog meters. Aside from fuel and gear position, the small display on the right side shows trip meters, average fuel consumption, the maximum distance that can be traveled from the fuel in the tank, and an Eco indicator.

When you enter the passenger compartment, you will notice three fabric seats. Each has three adjustable headrests. The seats are generally comfortable. However, because there is a rather high floor hump in the center, the center passenger may feel a little uneasy. Two persons may typically travel comfortably. There is also plenty of leg and headroom in the passenger area. Passengers can also use the bottle holder in the center console if necessary. Even if the door bins are modest, there are large bottle holders in the doors. In addition, two seat back pockets were included.

Performance

Wigo is powered by a 1000cc three-cylinder VVT-i engine. This engine generates 66 horsepower and 89 Newton-meters of torque.

The engine of Wigo is coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. And it is a front-wheel-drive vehicle.

Wigo accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 14 seconds. The fuel consumption is 15 km/liter. And, because the fuel tank capacity is 33 liters, you can drive 495 kilometers.

Ride Quality

The Toyota Wigo has a turning radius of 4.7 m. As a result, you may drive on bumpy roads with ease and turn in less space in the city. As a result, for a cheap vehicle, the ride comfort is excellent. The outside noise, however, can be heard within the cabin. The Wigo’s performance is limited because it is primarily intended as a city car. However, in everyday use, the handling is quite decent.

Safety & Technology

When it comes to Toyota Wigo’s safety, two airbags have been installed for the driver and front passenger.

This Wigo has safety features such as ABS, Security Alarm, and Immobilizer. However, stability control, EBD, and a front parking sensor are not included. The Toyota Wigo, on the other hand, has an ASEAN NCAP 4-star safety certification.
