Kia Picanto 2016 Review

Kia is a South Korean-manufactured car that is often seen in Sri Lanka, and are considered to be reliable and efficient. Therefore, their popularity has increased quite a lot in recent years. The Picanto is a unique vehicle among all vehicles manufactured by Kia, which is rapidly expanding in Sri Lanka. Moreover, the Kia Picanto vehicle model has been produced as a city car from 2004 to date. The car is also known as the Kia Morning in some markets. In this review, we will delve into the specifics of the Kia Picanto 2016 model.

Exterior Design:

A quick look at the exterior design of the Kia Picanto 2016 model gives you an impressive appearance. Also, its components such as the fog lights, alloy wheels, and rear spoiler are available as standard options for this model. In general, we can see bigger side mirrors on the Kia Picanto compared to other vehicles, while its rear windshield further adds to its look. Overall, the Kia Picanto is a fine vehicle with an attractive, sporty look. Furthermore, the Kia Picanto 2016 can be introduced as a five-door, five-seat, hatchback vehicle. Its ground clearance is 142mm and comes with alloy wheels with spaces of 16 inches.

Interior Design:

The interior of the Kia Picanto, has a great feel to it, with a two-tone colour that is a blend of silver and black. Most of the components inside are made of high-quality plastic, allowing for comfort while traveling. The Kia Picanto has an attractive dashboard compared to other vehicles that are in the same price range. This vehicle is fitted with a standard MP3 player, however, this could easily be replaced with an upgraded version.
Furthermore, three passengers may travel comfortably in the back seat. However, it could only accommodate two passengers of larger build. There is reasonable legroom in the passenger area as well as in the driver’s cabin, even for a taller person. The boot of the KIA Picanto has to be unlocked through the center lock system and it boasts 200 liters of boot space. By folding the vehicle’s back seats, the boot space can be bumped up to 605 liters.

Performance:

The Kia Picanto comes with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder 1000cc engine. This model’s vibration as well as its engine noise are very low. The vehicle produces 64kW of power and 123Nm of torque. The performance of the engine on motorways is 3400rpm on 110km/h. The car is great on fuel-efficiency with 7 to 8 liters per 100km in the city.

Ride Quality:

The interior sound insulation of the Kia Picanto is truly top-notch for a car in its class, with outside noise rarely heard. The steering wheel is also designed with a distinct sporty feel. The driving seats are bucket-type seats in this model, allowing safety for drivers when taking sharp turns. It’s a great car for long distance travel too.

Safety and Technology:

Designing safety features for smaller cars is generally a difficult task as there is limited space for crumple zones and side intrusion bars. But Kia engineers have paid ample attention on the subject of safety. Incidentally, the Picanto comes with a five-star ANCAP rating. This vehicle has 06 airbags. There is also an ABS brakes system for releasing the electronic brake and for brake assists. In addition to this, features such as stability & traction control, daytime running lights, outer rear seat IsoFix, child-seat anchorage points, and emergency-stop signal are also included. The only drawback is perhaps the lack of a reverse camera, although the car’s sharp rear parking sensors adequately compensate for this.
